Sunderland central defender, John Mensah, yesterday limped off the field in the second half of the Barclay’s Premier League game against Everton. In a game in which he was adjudged the Man-of-the-Match by Skysports, the Ghanaian international had to be substitute after he picked up a hamstring injury.

“We can all see that John Mensah is a really, really good player, but unfortunately he has hurt his hamstring again,” Bruce remarked. John Mensah has made 7 appearances, scoring 1, since joining The Black Cats on loan from Lyon. The defender has been plagued by a recurring to his calf and hamstring.

With only 13 days to the African Cup of Nations, this is likely to casuse some headaches for Ghana manager Milovan Rajevac. The seriousness of the injury is still unclear. We would have to waited a little longer to tell if this will rule him out of the competition.
