Ghana May Lose Pantsil Too

December 29, 2009

Fulham and Ghanaian defender, John Pantsil had to be pulled out in the 67th min of the EPL match against Chelsea after he picked up a knee injury.

Roy Hodgson, Fulham manager fears the player might be out for the season.

“His knee is sufficiently bad that we wouldn’t want to put him on a flight,” said Hodgson.

“I’m more concerned he’ll miss the rest of the season because I always fear the worst when players twist their knees.”

Pantsil who had been schedule to link up with his team mates in camp for the African Cup of Nations will now have to go for a scan to assess the injury.

Ghana have several high profile players on the injury list now. Captain Stephen Appiah and midfielder playmaker, Laryea Kingston could not make the squad due to hamstring injuries.Chelsea midfielder, Michael Essien also tore his right hamstring in a match against Apoel Nicosia. Last Saturday, Ghana was dealt another blow after John Mensah
limped off the field in the second half of the Barclay’s Premier League game against Everton.

Pantsil has been very impressive for the Cottagers this season. He was also voted Ghana’s Footballer of the Year.
