Shehata finalises Egypt Squad for Angola 2010 – Mido, Zaki left out

December 31, 2009

Egypt’s coach, Hassan Shehata has released the final list of 23 players for the African Cup of Nations in Angola next year.

Zamalek striker, Mido has been left out of the squad. No official reason has been given for this decision. It is worth noting however that, Mido has struggled with form since returning to Zamalek from Middlesbrough. He was not impressive in Egypt’s last friendly match against Malawi which ended in 1 all draw. The striker has scored only 1 goal in six months.

Another causality was Amr Zaki, who has been racing for fitness. “Zaki’s case is closed,” assistant coach Hamada Sedki told Fil Goal. “The (preliminary) squad was announced and he is not included, so he should be focusing on his recovery program.” (According to Eurosport.yahoo.com)
