African Cup of Nations Host, Angola and Algeria have qualified for the quarterfinals of the competition after the last round of Group matches.

The game between Angola and Algeria produced no goals. In the other game involving Mali and Malawi, the Eagles beat the Flames by 3-1. Frédéric Kanouté, Seydou Keita and Bagayoko were on target for Mali. Striker Russel Mwafulirwa scored Malawi’s only goal of the game.

The result mean that Angola top Group A with 5 points out of three matches. Algeria and Mali secure 4 points each. Algeria get the second spot since they beat Mali and hence have a superior head to head.

In their next match, Algeria will play pre-tournament favorites, Ivory Coast who are top in Group B. Angola will have to wait until tomorrow to know if they play Ghana or Burkina Faso.
